WHATSAPP FOR AUTOMOTIVE

Run test drives, service reminders, and renewal nudges that keep customers coming back.

Leads answered within five minutes convert about 4.2× better than those chased after 30 (2024) — and the six-month service, the insurance renewal, and the AMC are all high-margin touchpoints that slip when they go out by SMS. WhatsMark books test drives on a real calendar, fires service and renewal reminders on a channel with ~98% open rates, and keeps every conversation in one shared inbox — at 0% markup.

Sound familiar?

Three things every D2C team already lives with

Inquiries from Meta ads die in three different inboxes

Lead Ads land in Meta. The form fills land in CRM. Walk-in inquiries scatter across executives' personal phones. The hot lead from this morning's spend is in someone's pocket — nobody's followed up.

Service reminders go out by SMS and get ignored

Six-monthly service is the highest-margin recurring touchpoint a dealer has — but SMS gets read far less than WhatsApp, and 22% of scheduled service appointments no-show without a reminder that actually lands (Demand Local, 2024). The customer drives to the corner garage instead.

Renewals slip away silently

Insurance renewals, AMCs, and warranty extensions are all high-margin and perfectly predictable — yet each quietly lapses when the reminder goes out on a channel the customer ignores. Every missed renewal is revenue that walks to a competitor.

The four pieces

What you actually need to run WhatsApp marketing at scale

Inquiry-to-test-drive in one inbox

Click-to-WhatsApp ads, website enquiries, and walk-in messages all land in one dealership inbox. A qualifier flow captures model, budget, and trade-in; the buyer books a real open slot via WhatsMark's built-in appointment system; and new contacts auto-assign to an executive by your routing rule.

Service reminders that fill the bay

Six-monthly service, free check-ups, recall notices — your DMS calls the WhatsMark API (or you schedule a campaign from an imported service-due list) to fire a T-7d nudge, a T-1d confirm, and a post-service feedback request. The customer books a slot right in the thread.

Renewals that don’t slip

Insurance, AMC, and warranty renewals go out as a scheduled follow-up sequence at 60, 30, and 15 days before expiry, each with a one-tap “Renew now” — on a channel that gets ~98% open rates instead of an unread SMS.

Keep your number, one shared team

Coexistence keeps your dealership’s existing WhatsApp number and chats while WhatsMark automates on top. Connect multiple branch numbers (up to 10 on Professional) and route each to its own named team inbox, with assignment and private notes across your sales and service staff.

Scenario 01 / Lead capture

Capture inquiries before they message your competitor.

A click-to-WhatsApp ad drops the buyer straight into a chat, and the qualifier flow starts the moment they message. The bot captures model, budget, and trade-in, then hands off to WhatsMark's built-in appointment booking so the buyer picks a genuinely open test-drive slot. The brochure is delivered inline, the contact auto-assigns to an executive by your routing rule, and the whole conversation is saved to their record.

  • Qualifier flow starts on the inbound click-to-WhatsApp message
  • Tags the lead with model, budget, trade-in, and timeline
  • Test-drive booked on real open slots — native, no external calendar link
  • Auto-assign to an executive by round-robin or online-agent rule

Scenario 02 / Service & retention

Bring the car back for every service due.

From the first service onward, your DMS calls the WhatsMark API — or you schedule a campaign from an imported service-due list — to fire a T-7d nudge ("service due next week"), a T-1d confirm ("slot for tomorrow at 10 AM?"), and a post-service feedback request. The customer books a workshop slot right in the thread, and pickup-and-drop is coordinated in the same conversation.

  • Reminders triggered by your DMS via the WhatsMark API, or a scheduled campaign
  • Workshop slot booked in-thread on the built-in appointment system
  • Post-service feedback and review request
  • Same cadence reused for AMC and warranty follow-ups

Scenario 03 / Renewals & retention

Never miss an insurance or AMC renewal again.

Insurance, AMC, and warranty renewals are high-margin and perfectly predictable — but easy to miss when the reminder goes out by a channel the customer ignores. Feed the expiry dates from your DMS and a scheduled follow-up sequence fires at 60, 30, and 15 days before, each carrying a one-tap "Renew now" that opens a quote (pulled from your own system). The reminder lands on WhatsApp, so it actually gets read.

  • Scheduled Sequence at 60, 30, and 15 days before expiry
  • Expiry dates fed from your DMS via the WhatsMark API
  • “Renew now” opens a quote from your own insurance/AMC system
  • ~98% WhatsApp open rate vs an ignored renewal SMS

FAQ

Common questions, honest answers

Don't see your question? Email me at mailto:[email protected] — I read and answer every one personally.

Yes. A qualifying flow asks the model, fuel type, and budget, then hands off to WhatsMark's built-in appointment system, which shows genuinely open slots — your showroom hours, slot length, and capacity respected — so two buyers can't grab the same one. The customer taps a slot, the contact auto-assigns to an executive by your routing rule, and you can turn on a pre-drive reminder. No phone tag.

You can connect up to 2 WhatsApp numbers on Free, 10 on Professional, and unlimited on Reseller, run brand templates and campaigns across them, and route each branch to its own named team inbox. To be clear about today's reality: these live in one workspace with shared reporting — a full OEM-parent panel with isolated per-dealer sub-accounts and cross-dealer SLA dashboards is on the roadmap, not shipped, so we don't sell it as live.

Yes, through our REST API. WhatsMark doesn't receive arbitrary inbound webhooks from a DMS, so the pattern is: your DMS (or a daily service-due export) calls the WhatsMark API to trigger a send, and WhatsMark forwards message events back to your DMS across 30 Meta event types. A developer wires this once, or a Zapier/Make bridge handles it without code.

They fire from a trigger you set up — the most reliable being your DMS calling the WhatsMark API on a service-due date, or a campaign you schedule from an imported service-due list. Each reminder can go at T-7d before the due date, and the customer books a slot in-thread on the built-in appointment system. WhatsMark sends and books; the service-due signal comes from your data.

Opt-out is a single-tap reply (for example, Reply STOP) in any marketing template. The contact is marked unsubscribed and all future marketing sends to them are blocked automatically. Utility messages tied to an active service appointment still flow, because they aren't marketing.

Yes — that's the design. Each executive logs in with their own account. Conversations can be assigned, transferred, and resolved, and internal notes stay private to your team. History persists across the customer's lifetime, so whoever picks up tomorrow has full context.

Meta charges per conversation, billed directly to your own Meta Business Account at its published rates. Service reminders and confirmations fall under Meta's cheapest (utility) category, and WhatsMark auto-routes eligible marketing sends through Meta's lower-cost MM Lite path. WhatsMark adds 0% on top — you pay us only the flat subscription.

Both, but service is where it compounds. Sales gets the obvious wins: an instant reply to a test-drive enquiry, a qualifier flow that captures model and budget, an executive assigned before the lead cools. But the recurring value is retention — the reminder that brings a customer back at 10,000 km, the insurance renewal, the AMC. Those are predictable and easy to let slip when the workshop is busy; a scheduled sequence never forgets them, and because WhatsApp gets opened where SMS often doesn't, the reminder lands and the bay stays full. Automation handles the cadence and the booking; your advisors handle the customer in person.
